Subject:Retaking my procrastination throne
Time:6:16 pm.
Mood: restless.
WHEW!.....just so damn hot in this room that the fan has found a new home in front of the window and the door has found a new state of being: OPEN. But other than that it's been a pretty uneventful day. Slept through class, as always, but managed to finish all the work for every class and be almost a week ahead in every one.....sometimes I don't get why I can't just GO!

Bought a "The Used" poster today at our annual sale on campus. A nice little edition to the other posters and ancient concert flyers that wallpaper my corner of the room

Honestly though, I've been feeling detached lately. The thing is that this feels like a GOOD THING. I'm not really sure why, but I just don't wanna be around people a lot. Of course this is the same story as last semester and people jump to conclusions and feel alienated by me. Again, I'm sorry for that, but I feel I just need some Mike time to do homework and get better at guitar. It was nice...I cleaned my room today and I have a new sense of being lately. I've been writing poetry...which is strange for me because I've written about 3 poems willingly in my entire life. Hopefully this will broaden my perspectives as a songwriter as well.

But in any case, I feel really bad about how I've been treating people lately. I'm trying hard to be better at this "not being flaky" thing and I'm just sucking it up horribly. I just hope that people don't develop this permanent feeling of I-don't-wanna-be-by-fucking-mike-casey-anymore syndrome. So for anyone who I've pissed off....please be patient....I'll come around.

Have a show for sure on March 27 (saturday) at the West Theater with Bill Schulz here in GB. It's only 5 bucks, so everyone should come if they can. Bill Schulz is amazing...*sigh*....that's all I can say....*snap out of it Mike!!!*

So anyway, I realize how much of an ass I've appeared to be lately, and I'm really really sorry to people I've pissed off.

Gonna head out though.
Later

Subject:An update to try and get my ass back into this mess
Time:2:21 am.
Mood: relaxed.
Anyway...so I'm sick of diaryland, cause people can't leave comments...http://benzel56.diaryland.com...if anyone cares.

But, not a whole lot going on here. It's pretty early for me to be starting something so late, but here it is anyway.

Just would like to point out that livejournals are an easy way to piss people off. And I'm not naming anyone specifically (even though that last sentence just fuels the fire) but you take your chances when you read these journals. You might find something you don't want to read. If you're reading a friend's journal and you see something mean or ventful (yes, ventful, not vengeful) don't hold it against them. It IS a livejournal afterall. If anything, take what their saying as a sign that they wanna work it out with you. Not everyone is out to pick a fight...but if you go about it that way, then it appears that YOU are the one who wants to fight. Life's too short for that bullshit.

Take things as they come, evaluate them, learn from them, and then GET OVER IT. People make mountains out of molehills and, frankly, it's getting quite annoying. Also...please don't think that you are the coolest person in the world...and I'm not talking about publically, but the kind of coolest-person-in-the-world that you think no one thinks that YOU think you are, because believe me - you don't hide it well. That's the problem lately. Everyone thinks they have the right answer, but they don't (not to say that I do, even though I secretly think so...heehee), cause in the end it just boils down to them thinking they're better than someone else. People need to step down off this pedestal they make for themselves and try and work with other people on the same level to work things out. Cause this pretention is suffocating. A lot of friendships can be salvaged by a little phrase - I'm sorry. Not that hard...well not hard for people who aren't afraid to let go of their useless pride.

I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I bet my blood pressure is A LOT lower than other people (yes, you) and it's keeping me logical and sane....two nice things to have when you're working out life's big messes

On a side note: people need to look at their morals lately (yes, I'm included in this one as well)

------------------------------------------------------------

But in happy news:
I went to see Matt Nathanson with Amanda (the coolest concert buddy person ever ;), and I MUST say that I've never ever laughed that much at a concert. I mean, I was almost crying. Anyone who wants to see a good show/performer, should not miss him when he comes again in the spring.
www.mattnathanson.com (recently signed to Universal)

Doing very well in school....It's amazing how much motivation you have when you aren't like 8 weeks behind...hehe. But it looks like I'll be back next semester, which will be grand.

Writing some great songs lately. I'm really happy with how I've progressed musically and lyrically in the past few weeks. I'm no Robert Frost, but I definitely could take on a 5-year-old ANY day of the week....;)
.....speaking of.........
Show on March 27 at the West Theater with local singer/songwriter Bill Schulz (amazing...I mean you NEED to see him)...tix are 5 buckaroos....please go.....it's a Saturday night....good shit

GOING TO FUCKING MEXICO ON A CRUISE WITH AMANDA AND HER FAMILY...FOR FREE!!!!....yay for being able to use my Spanish!

Anyway...time to go to bed....class
yay! (for real!)

Subject:Even though I said....
Time:3:27 pm.
Mood: busy.
yah yah yah
Even though I said I was never going to update THIS journal, I decided to anyway. Nothing new though....saw the musical on saturday....always amazed by Xavier musicals *shakes head in amazement*. I have the best friends in the world...lol....anyway, numerous show cancellations..ok, only two (Todd Snider and Pete Francis), but the Todd Snider one is rescheduled for February and I just talked to Carl who wants me to open a Willy Porter show in April...so, cool cool for that. Eileens a bit mad at me for not being around this weekend, that on top of being extremely stressed lately means that I need to do something sweet for her.....*thinks*....well I'm sure I'll come up with something....hopefully. Can't wait for next semester - love the classes i'm taking. But I need to be in class in 5 min, so I'm not gonna list them.

Later boys and girls

Hey,
Just a quick update here....I'm not going to be doing much on livejournal lately cause I've been having a lot of computer problems with it...SO, I have opened another journal at http://benzel56.diaryland.com, so go there to read stuff, etc...

Nothing really new here...still somewhat of a mess (school, etc...ok, well mostly just school...)

But I gotta get to bed....appt. tomorrow.

Subject:Welcome to Canada, it's a beautiful place.....
Time:12:10 am.
Mood: relaxed.
So I came home to like 12 messages on our machine....mostly just people yelling....still confused...

Anyway, skipped class and went to counseling/disability services today (ironic) to see if there's anything I can use to help my dumb-ass through school. I have to redocument my disabilities apparently, which is fine, but it just eats up my time.

Weekend was a blast...I was with my friends for pretty much the whole time...oh yeah...and Eileen and myself hooked up! Yay! And the fact that we did it at a gay dance club (which no one told me ahead of time...thanks guys) makes it all the more romantic. Things are great right now and it's the happiest I've been this year. *thanks...:)*

Played guitar for awhile today...felt really good to sing again...ever since this nasty cold, I haven't been able for like 5 days.

*When I bite into a York Peppermint Pattie, I get the sensation that......well.....I'm just happy I get a sensation.*

*Grandpa has an itch in his pants...;)*

goodnight to all who tread here

Subject:Suppose I should update this tingy...
Time:2:55 am.
Mood: content.
Just got off of work....damn inventory *shakes fist at Target* Oh well, I got the job at Sam's Club and they are giving me almost twice the hours and starting me at a dollar more an hour than Target is. WhooHoo!!! But I'll still keep the Target job...(even though the two companies are mortal enemies *que Secret Angent Man*...
Well the music thing is coming together...lol...kinda. I have Joe and Ryan backing up my stuff/writing as a band, and I'm in this other band called The Incognitos. I'd say we're good old fashioned rock and roll....awesome music (let me know if you want mp3s). I really think we can get shows...we meld really freakin well.
Did a little online shopping tonight...bought the Trio singles collection and The Power of Failing by Mineral...awesome bands...prolly why I'm buying the cds.

I thought this was kinda cool....I was walking home from Madeleine's a week or so ago, and I had an inspirational moment crossing the crosswalk at Jefferson School....I wrote a poem/thingy when I got home. It started off pretty normally....then my brain took it somewhere else. Neways, here it is:

A Night's Walk

This intersection sings quietly
Streetlights humming away the nocturnal silence
And I am riding the warm summer breeze
Over the crosswalk through bits of gravel
Grinding like a hiker's journey down a well worn trail

Stars are glistening like the eyes of a first time Oscar winner after 13 previous nominations
Who gets to tell the whole world how grateful she is just to have 15 seconds of primetime fame
Who gets to tell the world she couldn’t have done it without them

Without the other stars glistening like bits of broken glass through strobing police and ambulance lights
Making silhouettes of the EMT’s and paramedics pulling the lone survivor from the 4-car pileup
Past the wreckage
Past undesired reality
Past the tabloids and the media who are waiting to drink the new miracle beverage from the survivor’s open mouth because mouth-to-mouth is the best way to achieve 15 seconds of fame to shine
On either PBS or Playboy
On CNN or TNT
And when the media’s platform rests on getting a piece of as* and the only platforms they run against are the ones involving educational programming and the 1% of the educated population that
Survive without “Survivor”
Are Americans who don’t need idols
That means that 99% of Americans would become sickly and ill without their reality-based programming
They would need to be hospitalized with a primetime IV and would only be able to see reality for 15 seconds
At a time
15 seconds of real actual living which would make them realize America is nothing but a wasteland
A reality-based experimental desensitization
A dehumanizing country which places more value on the Nielsen ratings than on human life
Who can’t seem to find any other employees inside a global superpower except the ones who don’t speak English and are willing to suck the corporate c*ck for less than a dollar a day so they can enter the poverty level in the Land of Opportunity
The land where pilgrims had more values than presidents
Where people relied on themselves and fought for what was right
Not for what was most cost-effective
The land where blood-spilled earth now serves as the foundation for the next fu**ing McDonalds
Who has served over 90 billion happy customers
Who spend over 90 billion dollars
To make sure they can always blame someone else for their own problems
To make sure their plastic existence is secure
To make sure they never have to walk outside and see the stars
Because they all know that, if they do
They will fall to their knees and cry
Because their 15 seconds...is up

I thought it was kinda cool and i'd like to know what you guys think. I'm not expecting anything...I'm just curious cause I think it's the first nonlyricaly styled poetry I've ever written...lol...that I didn't burn first.

Anyways, I'll be online after 11:00 most nights and sometimes durin the day

Subject:Nearing the bitter bitter end...
Time:9:22 pm.
Mood: bored.
Hey guys
Thought I'd update seeing as the semester is pretty much over. Played a show in Door County at the Bridge on Saturday. A big thank you to the second of my music mentors Roger Kuhns (the first being my inspirational uncle Tom) who set up the show for me in the first place. He was there along with my two friends Andrea and Koreen who brought me up in the first place (THANK YOU SO MUCH!!), and my parents and my brother who decided to make the long trek up there. It was a long-ass show spanning two hours....I've never played that long and I lost my voice in the last 15 minutes going through my dwindling setlist of covers. It was still really fun though and I made close to 30 dollars on tips.

We then went over to Jacksonport to Roger's little makeshift recording studio decked out with some awesome equipment. We then re-recorded one of the songs off my makeshift EP and he's adding bass parts and drum lines to it....I'm excited cause he's going to get my material played on the radio up there, and he's going to get me a spot on Fox 11's Good Morning Wisconsin.

I have three shows this summer/fall, but only one I'm not positive about the date for

June 8th at Ryan's Ballroom at 7:00 (not sure what time I'm playing
Sept. 4th at UWGB at 8:00ish? -- opening for Goran from The Gufs

The other show is with this guy from Nebraska and he wants me to accompany him on his tour when it comes through Wisconsin in the fall (4 dates), but i'm not sure what's happening with that...yet

Well, I'm here packing up for the semester....kinda sad I'm leaving, but also pretty happy I'm coming home to make money (even if it is for school)...damn will it be nice to have a car again.

Found out I'm probably gonna fail two classes....it doesn't matter though, I'm just retaking them over the summer...I'm a creature who learns from experience and no other way, so i guess i'ts kinda good.....dad will be pissed, but understand....mom will just understand....lol...anyways...i'm gonna head out and finish packing so i can get the hell out of here

rock on

I know their not big time, but I've always idolized them and have loved their music.....speaking of playing....show at The Bridge in Door County on Sat. Time:1:54 am.
Mood: excited.
Hey
I know it's been awhile since I've updated, but live with it....:)

I've really been thinking a lot about school lately...Like along the lines of why I'm here. I've been having a pretty rough time my first year and have found that I don't really have any motivation. Well aside from my ADHD, I've realized that my lack of drive is due to a lack of a goal. I really didn't have much of an idea as to what I want to do until it hit me about 20 minutes ago that I want to be a part of the music industry. When I realized that, I realized what I am going for in school now. I'm going to minor in spanish and music, and major in Communication Processes (emphasis in Public Relations)

After school at GB I plan on attending either a grad school, or full-sail, a nationally accredited recording arts school

It's so great to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and to know that I will be doing something I am good at and that I love.

A great weight has just been lifted off my shoulders that I didn't even know was there. I have a goal now...and am not just in a meandering existence.

Subject:My first entry in a friggin long time
Time:2:16 am.
Mood: rejected.
Well hello there!
I was just about to go to bed, when I decided to update this window into my head. Anyways, I'll try and list the new things...and possible new things in my life. Well, I played my first show in literally more than a year over my spring break...SO MANY PEOPLE CAME! I don't know if I say this enough, but all you guys who come to my show(s) are the people that allow me to say I have fans. You guys really make the experience 10 times more worthwile...especially when you clap no matter what I play :) If I ever win an award, you will definitely be in the top 3 people I mention (unless bound by contract to say otherwise) (lol...wishful thinking)

But anyways, school is ok...but I'm really looking forward to fall semester next year cause the way I have it planned out, I won't have to start classes any day (except for one) before 11...yay!

Speaking of school, I'm probably going to be a light/sound tech for Good Times Programming. GTP is the organization up here responsible for bringing in Mustard Plug, The Gadjits, and The Lawerence Arms. I'm so excited to finally get an opportunity to do SOMETHING musical with the campus.

Speaking of music...
I have found out from reliable sources, that ALKALINE TRIO is playing a show on Fri. April 18 at Northern Michigan University. The show is NOT listed on their list of shows on their website, and the cost is only 5 DOLLARS!! I have a ride up there, but I am not able to help out anyone who wants to go...sorry, but you'll have to find your own way up there. Msg me with questions.

Whoops, I just woke up my roomate, gotta jet

Time:1:59 pm.
Mood: thoughtful.
hey
nothing new here....I'm sick, but that's ok....it will pass.
Getting my hair done up for homecoming...yeah...you'll see...hehe
My CD will really be taking off hopefully by january. I have a bunch of new songs, and I'm going through everything I've ever written, new and old, and choosing 6 ro 7 songs to put on it. I'll sell it for 5 or 6 dollars, but of course my friends will probably get free copies...provided they still support me as they always have, and maybe come to a show or two (you guys have made the experience so rewarding...you have no idea) Some new stuff I'm writing sounds alike, but I'm realizing that it's my style, and that I write good when I'm writing in it.
College is feeling more like home than my old home...kinda sad...but I like it.

someone please drop me a line.....although this is home, I still miss yas!

Adam, thanks for posting on sincerely me's site...I guess according to them, I quit the band and they didn't tell me....really stressful

anyways, I have to write a paper on philosophy...great stuff...makes ya head hurt!

Subject:UPDATE: ENOUGH SCENE
Time:2:09 am.
Mood: tired.
Hey everyone
first of all I would like to apologize for my little outburst on my last post. (also the caps/bold thing was only supposed to be for a sentance, but I forgot to close the HTML tag...sorry)

Really I was venting...I have nothing against emo or the people who like it, I was just really confused about music scenes in general.

I'm

really

sorry if I offended anyone with that classical music reference...It wasn't meant to make me look superior or anything (as my good friend Adam pointed out to me that it did...thanks) I was just typing at like 500 wpm and that was the first thing that came to mind

The whole intelligence thing...I wasn't calling people who don't listen to or like classical music unintelligent. My uncle is really smart and he's a metalhead. Like I said, I was just venting and that's what came out.

I can say that the post was a product of a quarter anger, and about three-quarters confusion.

Again, I'm really sorry if I offended anyone

I respect any person's preference of music because it's what they like...why should I care.

anyways..........

Leaving for college in 2 frickin days!!

mixed feelings though...as anyone else, I guess

Played a kickin' show at the Blue Moon on saturday!
Lots of people (close to 70)...I just love playing music in front of a big crowd!! I always go nuts and its the best feeling!!

Props to 360 Twitch and their successful show at Ryan's on Friday. You guys tied with Suffice for the best band there.

I should go however and sleep

bye now...y'hear

again, sorry about the music thing...I loves all of yas!
